Writing and producing Jewish and spiritual music is central to my calling as a rabbi.

Testimonials

For a Jewish boy to write a piece of gospel music like that!  Wow!  The following will tell you a little about me, but on this Rise Up question, I sat there in the back pews convinced that this was a classic gospel piece…the way the choir and the lead singer sang it…it was spectacular.  I spent two summers in 1965 and 66 working for Dr. King in Orangeburg, SC; I went to church quite often and I heard gospel after gospel song…but yours tops them all!"

- Peter A. Geffen, Founder and Executive Director of Kivunim

"Eit HaZamir, by Rabbis Micah and Loren Lapidus is a welcome addition to the beautiful, meaningful canon of life-cycle music. It is a perfect gift for wedding couples, recent converts to Judaism, and parents/grandparents of new children. This CD will be a wonderful resource to clergy in planning meaningful life-cycle celebrations. Simply put, this is an extraordinary resource-- listeners will never think about milestone moments in the same way!"

--Rabbi Peter Berg, senior rabbi, The Temple, Atlanta, Ga

"Micah Lapidus has taught me an incredible amount about how to use music at the confluence of spirituality, community and personal expression. His integrity and authenticity sing with open-hearted humor. His songs evoke life in all its power and beauty. I highly recommend you give Micah's music an engaged listen – he's got an amazing gift and I'm grateful he shares it so generously with the world."

- Matt Coffman, String Love Guitar

There's something truly heartwarming about hearing a parent-child relationship expressed in song. That connection comes through beautifully on my favorite tracks on Eit HaZamir: "God Bless the Child" and "Yismech Elohim." (And, I can't write a proper review without a shout-out to a particularly inspiring song from budding young talent, the raw version of "I Love You (It's the Way)," which is priceless. Yes, little one, it's gonna be a huge hit!) But more than that, throughout the entire album, one gets a sense of closeness, an almost familial comfort with the words and ideas expressed between the musicians and God, that's very inviting. Eit HaZamir is akin to a velvet cover lain lovingly over the Torah, simultaneously soft and protective, joyful and sincere. It's music to be experienced together, best played while holding your loved ones close.

Eit Hazamir, 2016

Eit HaZamir (2016) is a collection of songs that reflect the deepest love of family and friends. My first album outside of The Davis Academy and fully under the auspices of "Hello, Goodbye & Peace", Eit HaZamir is both a departure and a homecoming. All of the songs were co-written by me and my wife, Rabbi Loren Filson Lapidus.

    Hello Rabbi Lapidus,

I am a Jewish day school music teacher in Toronto, Canada, and I’d love to teach your song to my choir for an upcoming performance. How might I get the lyrics and chords for this beautiful and important song? Thank you kindly in advance!
