Greetings.

My name is Micah Lapidus. I'm a Reform rabbi that's married to a fellow Reform rabbi, Loren Filson Lapidus. I've got two young kids. I live in Atlanta, Ga.

I work at The Alfred & Adele Davis Academy, an absolutely amazing Reform Jewish Day School that runs through 8th grade and that defies everything you think you know about Jewish Day Schools.

I'm also a songwriter and composer of Jewish and spiritual music. My musical publishing career to date includes several commissioned pieces and four albums: Be a Blessing (2013), A Palace in Time (2015), Eit HaZamir (2016), and Menschology (2017). My music has been sung and performed at synagogues, hillels, summer camps, Jewish organizations around North America and Israel and even a few churches. It's been used for baby namings, weddings, vow renewals, and more. One particular point of pride is that I've performed my music at the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church here in Atlanta, Ga (the former pulpit of MLK Jr.). With all due respect to my fellow Jews, there's nothing like sitting in with the Ebenezer house band and choir. You can get a much deeper dive into my music by visiting Hello, Goodbye & Peace.

I've also got a doctorate. Working as I do with early adolescents and trying to tend to their spiritual and religious growth and exploration I thought it might be a good idea to research adolescent spirituality. So I did. If you want to know more about it, rest assured I'd be happy to discuss this fascinating topic ad nauseam.

When I'm not working at The Davis Academy, dreaming up new Jewish music, or critiquing the current state of spiritual education in North America there's a good chance I'm playing with my kids, hanging out at my wife's synagogue, or hiking around North Georgia. Some formerly held professional roles I'm proud of are serving as president of PARDES: Day Schools of Reform Judaism and as a board member for the Central Conference of American Rabbis.

    Hey Micah,

I was so pleasantly surprised to see a CD in the ACC swag bag at the recent ACC-GTM convention with your and Loren’s names on it. I’m listening to Eit HaZamir now as I write this message, and wanted to say hi and wish you both and your family all the best.

    L’Shalom,
    Lu

Woke up on day three of the benighted one’s administration feeling appropriately dreadful (literally, full of dread) and came upon ‘Hello, Goodbye, Peace’ on your brother’s FB page. Definitely brightened my mood, for which, thank you, and thank Eartha Sims.

    Good Morning Rabbi Micah!
It’s getting cooler here in Colorado Springs, and I am looking forward to meeting a new group of 6th graders in the B’nai Mitzvah prep program here. I recently previewed and acquired Menschology, what a lovely compilation! – As always, nice to hear beautiful new pieces and familiar voices in this beautifully mastered recording.
Thank you also for providing charts to the songs you have recorded. On the spot I decided to break out the banjo and play along to Gentle as a Reed. For Sukkot, I had planned to do a classroom exercise with the verses from Koheleth – exploring the many opposites. Thanks to your inspiration, my lesson will now involve writing (and maybe singing) verses for Gentle as a Reed.
Congratulations on another beautiful collection of inspiring works. <3

Ellie, What an awesome note to receive. Somehow, I’m just seeing it. Your support and affirmation means so much to me! And I have a particular soft spot for that song!

Well, although I am not a Jew ,I am devoted to many of the same things including E Levinas. The quote you have written about I used
at my late husband’s funeral and I have posted a link to my blog.I made a joke once asking why the Jews didn’t ask Christians
to pay royalties on the Bible they pinched from you
On the other hand,Leonard Cohen said it’s the missionary side of Judaism

Greetings: I just recently heard your rendition of “Swim, swim, swim” on NPRs “City Lights” program.

I only got to hear a small sample of the song, and I can’t get it out of my head. Can you tell me how/where I can purchase an entire copy of the song?
